After Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass
Full Fluids
Clear fluids only are taken for the first 24 hours after surgery. Most patients are discharged 48 hours after surgery on a full fluid diet. Patients should stay on this diet for 2 weeks. Full Fluid Diet
Pureed Diet
After patients have been on the full fluid diet for 2 weeks, they should be ready to start a pureed diet which should be taken for another 2 weeks. Pureed Diet.
Regular Diet
After two weeks of a pureed diet you should be ready to begin the regular post gastric bypass diet. This diet provides suggestions that you should you use in the long term. Regular Diet
